US tech stocks pull back after a strong run

US technology stocks have pulled back from record highs in the first two weeks of September. The tech-heavy NASDAQ Composite Index is down over 7.8% as of 14 September (on a total return basis) while the S&P 500 Index is down around 4.5%. Despite the retreat in September, the NASDAQ Composite Index is still up around 22% year-to-date while the S&P 500 Index is up around 4.8%.
