WisdomTree Increases Sales Coverage in Germany
Monday 06th June '16
London, Monday, 6 June 2016: WisdomTree, the exchange-traded fund (“ETF”) and exchange-traded product (“ETP”) sponsor announced that it has hired two additional salespeople to support client coverage for WisdomTree UCITS ETFs and Boost ETPs in Germany. Marcus Weyerer and Philipp Staudacher will support Gea Smolic, Director of German Sales, effective immediately.
Marcus Weyerer, Sales Executive, was previously at Intesa Sanpaolo where he was responsible for Money Market Sales covering corporate and institutional clients in the German speaking region of Europe. Prior to that, he was at Commerzbank in their Private Banking Securities sales team. He will be focused on building WisdomTree’s presence in Northern Germany.
Philipp Staudacher, Sales Associate, joins from AIG Europe. He has a wide range of experience in sales, trading and operations gained from the insurance, asset management and hedge fund industry. He has previously worked at Brevan Howard, BlueBay Asset Management and Merrill Lynch.
“I’m very pleased to welcome both Marcus and Philipp,” said Gea Smolic, Director of German Sales. “They add depth to the team and enhance our ability to address the client opportunity in Germany, a market that features sophisticated investors across institutions, wealth managers and private banks. Over the past year, we have seen Germany become WisdomTree Europe’s third most important market in terms of asset gathering, and we believe there is a real appetite for innovative ETFs in this market.”
Earlier this year, WisdomTree celebrated its one-year anniversary of listing its UCITS ETFs on the Deutsche Börse Xetra. Since January 2015, WisdomTree has seen monthly trading volumes of both its UCITS ETFs and Boost Short & Leverage ETPs nearly double. There are now 13 WisdomTree UCITS ETFs and 26 Boost ETPs listed on Xetra.
